Day 54 of our 2025 RVing Adventure with Historical & Musical Interludes

It's Tuesday June 24th, day 54 of our 2025 summer adventure. I took my walk and then we enjoyed coffee with our neighbors. We enjoyed Debbie's banana bread and apples with hot honey... Yes, I am addicted to hot honey! They had another camper move in. Just like at a campground, it is fun to watch people park their rigs!

I had a scheduled call with New York State to review my
Retirement packet. It is all in order and went in the mail today! Turning Sixty has its advantages!

We have been talking to a local guy, Roger, through the fence of the fairgrounds. He drives by a number of times each day on his side-by-side. We learned that he owns a local restaurant in the old train station, The Express Casual Dining. What a genuinely nice guy. His daughter Hanna, is part of the team, too! It is closed on Sunday and Monday. We decided today was the day to check it out, since we went into town to mail my retirement packet.

What a great family, small town restaurant with BIG portions and bigger hearts! While we were there they gave out several gift certificates to charity events in the area! We ordered the wedge. The special was buy a wedge get fresh cut fries free. We should have said "only one order of fries" the portion size was huuuuuuge!

In Pennsylvania, a "wedge" sandwich typically refers to a large pizza-shaped sandwich made with pizza dough and filled with various meats, cheeses, and toppings. It gets its name from being cut into wedge-shaped slices. These sandwiches are a unique Pennsylvania creation, often associated with pizza shops.

Instead of traditional bread, these sandwiches use baked pizza dough as the base. The dough is then filled with a variety of ingredients, similar to a hoagie or sub sandwich, such as cold cuts, cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and other toppings. The "wedge" or "wedgie" name comes from how the sandwich is cut into triangular wedges, similar to pizza slices. We will be back one afternoon for some ice cream!

When we got back to the Grange Fairground we et up our canopy, on the hillside. We do put chairs closer to the main stage, when we want to be up close and personal. But, we enjoy sitting in the shade on the hill under our canopy built for two! Tomorrow, the music begins! Stay tuned for more Two Lane Adventures!
