Friday, May 27th to Monday, May 30th, 2022 … Two Lane Adventures Continue!

We took Sheila, Gary & Sheryl to the Hammond Lake Overlook at the Tioga-Hammond Lakes Recreation Area. It is an easy out-and-back paved path that leads to a beautiful vista high above Hammond Lake.

The Tioga-Hammond Lakes project is unique in that it consists of two separate dams, one on the Tioga River and the other along Crooked Creek.  The lakes formed by both dams are joined by a gated connecting channel. The project was operationally complete in 1978.

Hammond Lake is a 640-acre lake, Tioga Lake is a 498-acre lake and Cowanesque Lake is a 1,085-acre lake. All three are in Tioga County with unlimited horsepower boating opportunities and good fishing. These lakes are surrounded by lush forested ridges, the lakes offer recreation opportunities for everyone.

We also took them up to the PA welcome center, it gives you a view of the Upper Tioga River and the Tioga-Hammond Lakes. The Welcome Center sits on Route 15 about 1 mile from the New York State border. The building is built like a mountain lodge with cut logs and an a-frame main lobby.

The location is breathtaking and a fine example of a utilization of the stunning landscapes of Pennsylvania as both a highway rest stop for road safety, and as a welcoming spot to the beauty of what the state has to offer.

The Welcome Center does a great job of informing people of the tourism opportunities of the state. The facilities are also fantastic for getting out and walking a little bit and there is ample room for picnicking. You could almost spend an afternoon taking in the views. There are two displays of everything that is made in Pennsylvania. How much of it do you recognize?

The evening included a fire and the dogs enjoying time together!

Of course, the weekend would not be complete without another trip to Shutter Homestead.

Royce did some fishing.

We enjoyed each others company and more campfires!
