Day 12 of 117 on our “Go West, Young Man” Two Lane Adventure – Sunday 7/8/18

We got great news yesterday. Our son and daughter in law, are heading back to Nevada via Tennessee and Wisconsin. Yes, I know what you are thinking, he must have failed land navigation … Tennessee and Wisconsin are not on a direct path to Nevada, but then Matt & Bina have never been boring!

We had a relaxing morning at Reelfoot Lake. We watched the squirrel that came right up to us, as soon as we got the chairs out ... they must remember how much we feed them yesterday ... LOL

Billy & Pattye spent more time with their nephew and his family. They were camped across from us for the weekend, by chance!

We watched people pack up and pull out ... we saw a camper that had one side painted like an American flag. Then we saw this triple pull, look closely you can see the end of the truck, the travel trailer and the cargo trailer with the golf cart behind the trailer. That is illegal in many states ... but I guess not here!

We had lunch plans at the Boat House for after church and Matt and Bina should be able to make it! Before it was The BoatHouse restaurant, this location was known as The Pier restaurant and it was most recently operated as Baja Fresh Mex Grill. The dining room area features Reelfoot Lake decor, while diners can enjoy spectacular views of the lake through the back windows of the restaurant. The restaurant’s main menu features catfish fillet plates, country ham, chicken tenderloin, grilled chicken breast, ribeye and flat iron steaks and a side order menu that includes French fries, onion rings, white and green beans, cole slaw, hushpuppies, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes and grilled vegetables.

The restaurant is within walking distance of most of Samburg’s lakeshore resorts and next to Spicer Park.

There was 10 of us enjoying our last meal out in Tennessee. We went to the Boat House for our first meal at Reelfoot Lake with 10 of us too, Wayne & Karen, Billy & Pattye, Carl & Edna, James & Debbie and Charlie & I. It was a great way to start off our mini-vacation in Reelfoot Lake. We sat in the lake-side room that is all glass so every table has a view to the west over the lake. We were served rolls and strawberry butter while we waited for our meal. I can’t believe that in the Strawberry Capital of the world, Plant City, we have never been served Strawberry butter!

Their Sunday meals are a bit different. You can still order off the menu, or you can select an entrée and 3 sides, plus dessert from their special board. Some ordered off the menu, other choose the specials. No matter what you ate, the food was excellent and the company was even better!

We spent the afternoon relaxing and visiting with our kids and friends. It was awesome to sit and visit with Matt & Bina, it has been way too long. I am glad retirement might be bringing them closer to us! The Army has kept them too far away for too long!

We waited patiently for our last sunset and Matt & Bina’s first on Reelfoot Lake.

It was a beautiful sunset.

After the sun had set, we took Matt & Bina to DQ. Since that is all we heard Pattye & Edna talk about. Edna went earlier in the day with her Granddaughter. Pattye has a weigh-in on Monday, so she did not go … it was just the 4 of us. The Blizzard was just as good as Miss Pattye says!

Tomorrow morning, Matt & Bina hit the road for Wisconsin and we hit the road for Missouri. Good night Reelfoot Lake!
