2019 Rally Route - Friday & Saturday September 13th – 14th, 2019 – Day 5 & 6

Friday at the rally is Pattye’s favorite day … Perry’s Ice Cream social. We really missed her and Bully, especially today! We get to enjoy 1 pint of Blue Bell ice cream per person … no, we did not eat them in one sitting! Sorry Pattye, we ate all of our ice cream!

Following the ice cream social, they hold the Cake Walk. You pay a dollar to hand plates around a circle and hope to be holding the winning numbered plate when the music stops. When you don't win, you pay another dollar to try again ... members of our group, Scott and Rena each won a cake, in the same round and then Rena came back alter and won another cake! We will be eating sweet tonight!

Naturally, the afternoon included games, today instead of Five Crown, we played Pegs & Jokers. Peggy loves learning new games!

We had an early dinner out at a restaurant called The Oil Lamp. Yes, it is kind of a strange name, but it is a highly recommended place and they always give the rally gift cards for door prizes. We chose it for their reputation, but also because it is served cafeteria style, so everything is ready when we arrived ... no need to place an order and wait.

They even reserved a table for all 14 of us! We invited our new friends from Mississippi to join us! The Oil Lamp Restaurant has been in Perry since 1996 and in its current location since the summer of 2009. The Oil Lamp owner Judy Wenger was raised as a Mennonite as a child, so her cooking style reflects this upbringing.

The evening program began with the Memorial Service, honoring the members of the Georgia Good Sam chapters that passed away this past year. Following the Memorial Service, there was a Military Veteran’s Recognition Service. Each member of the military was honored with a certificate and a pin.

The evening’s entertainment was another Game Show Mania event. It was Georgia’s version of the Price Is Right Game Show. Roy and Linda were ready for "Let's Make a Deal" ... none of us knew which games were going to be played!

After that game show ... we had a little time to dance! Nothing beats watching Jack and Jackie and Scott and Rena dance!

On our way home tonight, the "Cash Golfcart" game came on the tram. All weekend the "Cash Goftcart" has been driving people home and they had the opportunity to win cash. But, the golf cart died ... so the "Cash" came to the tram ... with her flashing light ball and all! It was a lot of fun ... we all made a couple bucks!

Saturday morning began with sausage biscuits and a Flea Market. Naturally, Jackie found many deals and added to her collection of shoes! I am not sure where she fits them all in that Allegro motorhome!

Beanbag Baseball Tournament is next on the agenda. We signed up and usually only play a game or two before we are eliminated from the tournament. Wow, we have some heavy hitters on our team … we got 6 runs in the first inning! The game went back and forth us in the lead, them in the lead … in the end … We won!

Our second game will be against the winner of the Florida State Staff and a Georgia team. We are praying that the Florida State Staff losses … we don’t want to have to play them … Praise God, they lost! We will play another Georgia team.Jackie never wanted to play, she always said she was not good … she got home runs and triples, almost every time she was up to bat! We played well again and won our second game!

We had to wait for our last game … until there was a winner of the other game in play. The winner of that game was another Florida team! So the final Bean Bag Baseball game at the Georgia Good Sam Rally was between two Florida teams. It was another close game … but in the end, we won … YES, WE WON! We are the champions!

The afternoon included our last chance to play Samgo … no winners here, but we had a great time! Even Charlie and Paul played! We purchased the catered dinner by Yoder’s, a Mennonite restaurant close to Perry. It is a roast beef, scalloped potato, green beans, cole slaw, a yeast roll and banana pudding. It was so delicious!

The Evening Entertainment was The Bushmen. The Bushmen have been entertaining capacity crowds since 1989. Today they continue as one of the leading live dance and entertainment bands in the southeastern US.

The Bushmen played a variety of music genres including beach music, Motown, soul, southern rock, and classic rock and roll. The Bushmen's energetic and exciting performance kept the crowd dancing. We heard they were a last minute replacement for the original entertainers that could not perform.

The evening ended with the last door prizes and the Chinese auction drawings. Our group did pretty good on the Chinese auction drawings.

Charlie and I won the “surprise” item worth $50, a set of patio lights and a tool set. Linda and Roy won an item and so did Jack and Jackie.

It was another awesome rally in Georgia!
