Day Five - Seven - A Summer of Bluegrass, Camping and Friends - Thursday 5/2 - 5/4/2024

We are in Hurricane Mills Tennessee to enjoy the TN State Good Sam rally. We were coming as guests with several of our friends from our former Good Sam chapter, the Carefree Sam's.

Rod & Helen were supposed to be here to promote Yankee RV Tours. However, their plans changed and they asked us to represent Yankee RV Tours. Since we were coming anyway, we decided to get paid too! We will be working with Tim & Debbie Carroll, so that will be fun!

We arrived on Wednesday 5/1/2024, which was the 2nd Early Bird Day. The sites were "first come first serve" so we were lucky and the TN State director saved a spot near our co-workers, Tim and Debbie. The rest of our gang had to go up on the hill, but their sites were much more spacious! They had a nice area to sit out with 10 or 12 chairs!

We did get registered and had time to set up the Yankee RV Tours booth in the pavilion. The gang got together for a spaghetti dinner, as Patty was trying to clean out her freezer, so she would have room for any left over ice cream from the ice cream social! There was a mixer, called "Sweet & Greet." Tim & Debbie, Charlie and I did not participate in the sweet part, but we did spend some time greeting! They showed the movie - Coal Miner's Daughter that night. Charlie saved his "sweet" for dessert with the gang, he helped finish up more of Patty's apple and strawberry rhubarb pies!

On Thursday 5/2/2024, the coffee and donuts were sponsored by Yankee RV Tours. We mingled with other rally goers. We had 2 seminars for Yankee RV Tours in the pavilion this morning. We are focusing on caravans and rallies that we have remaining in 2024 that still have room for more guests. Our seminars last for almost 2 hours.

After the seminars, we manned the booth and answered questions. Sadly, the booth was in the pavilion and the campers were a drive away from that venue. So, we only had people at our booth when there was an event at the pavilion. But, we stayed and were available for anyone who might stop by!

That evening, we enjoyed a Taco in a Bag, actually it was on a plate, provided to us by Janet & Brian. That night was the opening ceremonies. We decided to wear our purple Carefree Sam's vests to the opening ceremonies. Jonathan had the Yankee Staff come up front and say a few words.

After the opening ceremonies, we played Good Sam's version on BINGO, called SAMGO. None of us were lucky, but we had a good time!

On Friday 5/3/2024, we enjoyed a Pancake & Sausage breakfast put on by the Tennessee GS staff. It was delicious!

We had our last seminar in the pavilion. This seminar was focused on the 2025 events that Yankee has to offer. Early in the afternoon was the other event that Yankee sponsored the Ice Cream Social! It is a crowd favorite! Each person was given their own individual pint of ice cream.

That afternoon, there was the fan favorite event, Bean Bag baseball games! Debbie organized a team in honor of Paul Jeannin. We lost Paul this year and Beanbag Baseball was always his favorite event at these rallies!

We enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant, the Log Cabin. The food was fabulous and the friends were even better!

That night, we enjoyed a solo entertainer in the pavilion. Small world, he was originally from Hoosick Falls, New York. During the entertainment, they drew the 50/50 and guess who won? You guessed it... Charlie & I won the 50/50!

On Saturday 5/4/2024 was the last Coffee & Donuts, sponsored by Yankee. Unfortunately, it was raining and the people were scattered under the canopies of the buildings at the campground. We manned the Yankee RV Tours booth for the last day. That evening, we were treated to a Spaghetti Dinner sponsored by the TN Good Sam staff. Our FL group of friends helped them serve the dinner. It was very good!

Our entertainment, was scheduled for the pavilion. Then they moved it to the Campfire Show area. We all moved up there and then they moved it back down to the pavilion. Charlie & I were tired of going up and down the hill, so we stayed put at the campfire area. Then Charlie & Tim decide to light a fire. They created a great fire and occasionally we could hear the music. We had several people join us and we enjoyed the campfire!

It was a small but mighty rally. We enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones! Tomorrow we start traveling again on our #TwoLaneAdventures
